Corruption here n there..

Fresh scams are reserving the first page of every newspaper. Be it about A.Raja, Cwg or the latest Karnataka land scam.
The venom of corruption is spreading at such a fast rate that somewhere we all have become immune to it. Somewhere we have stopped expecting a yeoman job from our politicians. We know what they're all about..
This morning while reading the newspaper, a picture caught my eye. It was about the infamous Lakshmi nagar building that crumbled like a pack of cards on Monday evening. A boy of about 7 howled in grief on his father's death, who got crushed under the rubble. At such a tender age, he performed the cremation rites of his father. Not only his father but so many innocent people lost their lives. And the reason for the loss was again 'corruption'
21 families wait to see the bodies of their loved ones so that they can ensure a decent burial. That couldn't be pathetic. The builder might have used A- grade material for his own house, but when it comes to public welfare, who cares a damn!
The people who are making headlines today will continue to be in rubble for god knows how many days.
And we the people will eventually forget it too as we have bigger news coming up. Pamela Anderson in Bigg Boss house and Ranbir Kapoor admitting his multiple affairs. That is what we care about..don't we?

MMS.

The great minds have invented MMS services in our cell phones so that sophisticated people like us can send videos, exchange pictures. It is one of the best messaging technology till date.
But some people here have raised doubts in our minds about this invention. Is it a boon or a bane?
How are we using it? Is this the way it is to be used?
Numerous MMS scandals have come to light. Videos of private moments of people have been captured and forwarded to many. Be it the Ashmit-Riya Sen story or the unforgotten D.p.s scandal, they have done nothing except defame.
Who is to be blamed? The people misusing the technology or the technology which tempts several weak minds?
Another case came to light which forced a girl to commit suicide. The person with whom she got intimate made her MMS and leaked it.
http://news.in.msn.com/crimefile/article.aspx?cp-documentid=4519825

This isn't the first of such kind. Many girls have ended their lives with the fear of their image getting distorted  or their family's image ending in smoke. How often have we heard a boy ending his life after his MMS got leaked.
Think..

With you, For you, always

You have any trouble, dial 100. You see injustice, dial 100. And what if the troublemakers and rule breakers are  on the other side of the receiver?
We have known police vallas as corruption kings. They have always been known for looting a poor man's pocket and filling their own. But this fresh case of a Delhi police constable stabbing his own son makes him an opposite to his duties. The man who jails people involved in wife beating, domestic violence and crimes against women and children is himself breeding the crime in the 4 walls of his house.
How great is that? His khaki has easily hidden the demon inside him.
Have a look
The reason for the crime is that he suspects his wife of infidelity. So he thinks that beating is an easy solution. I beg to ask, can a woman get the same liberty of lashing  if she discovers her husband cheating on her. She'll cry, yell, divorce or maybe continue her broken marriage. Who has given this liberty to men to raise a hand at their wives then? Here's a survey on infidelity.
In my opinion, every individual has the right to be respected. We as human beings differ from animals as we live in a societal framework of rules. By committing these crimes, we are killing the difference.

Polluting the Environment for Something that's Gone

BANG BANG BANG!
That is when I know that Raavan is burnt and Ram wins. What a glorious way to celebrate victory! In Ram's victory hundreds other inhale unlimited pollution and expose their ears to unimaginable sound.Ram wins but we lose!I remember how my dad used to take me out and explain me the story of Ramayana with full enthusiasm.I remember how he used to pick me up in his arms and show me the crumbling Raavan into ashes.Loudspeakers glared narrating this saga and people used to listen and view with that shining looks on their face as if its something they haven't seen before, whereas the reality is that they have been coming to see it ever since they were children.I was thinking the other day about the villages which are still inaccessible to light.Where stillness and darkness continue to rule.
And here we are, 'the elite class', which wastes I don't know how many watts of electricity lighting up the whole area for this festival.
Is it justice?
Is that what we call the victory of good over evil?
When we enter a store to buy a firecracker how often does it strike our mind that we are burning a note?
Think of the destitutes whom we shoo away and here we are taking money out of our pockets without thinking for a second that it'll be turned into nothing but ash. There are many young minds who instead of studying are employed in these firework factories. They use their little hands not to turn a page of a book but to make a cracker.
What is this festival giving us?
Just because of an age old custom it is going on and on.Here I don't wish to offend my culture but I mean to throw light on the fact that such victory is of no use which gives us endless health problems.

Control that anger before it controls you.

Anger..all of us have a committed relationship with it. Our sibling does something which annoys us, we get angry. If we aren't permitted to go out with friends, we bang the door, yell at our highest pitch. We completely lose our cool at trivial matters. That is what happened with this restaurant manager.
In Chandigarh a 22 year old man was thrown into a boiling tandoor by his owner. And ask him why, he'll come up with a solid reason that his employee used to steal.
Anger has made us devils. We transform into beastly creatures. Have we ever thought what is the reason for this increasing anger among people? We have transformed into zero tolerant zones and its so easy to flare us up. Throughout our life our parents teach us to be calm and patient and forgiving. But..all lessons forgotten.
Sometimes we hear about acid attacks on girls, many a times we hear people shooting anyone on road due to a minor tiff, also cases of rape are omnipresent.
And then we call ourselves sophisticated souls.
What should be done to control this anger?
In my mother's  opinion we should meditate, join yoga and pray.If it would've been  such an easy solution this innocent employee would've been saved.
In my opinion, no meditation works until you want to control your violent streak. After all, its your anger and You have to take a control over it. Anger is just another emotion like sadness and happiness. It's perfectly Ok to be angry but then its important to release it in the right way. We mustn't forget our societal rules in that 5 min rage.
Go through this if you too aren't able to control your anger. I hope it works!

Dark side

Couldn't be worse. A minor girl of 12 was raped in a school in Kanpur. The complaint was filed by the girl's mother when she heard about her daughter being dropped at home by 2 maids from the school.
http://english.samaylive.com/regional/uttar-pradesh/676474534.html
It urges me to think how safe our educational institutions are. Parents send their children to school so that they come out as better and successful human beings. But how would that mother be feeling when she saw the dead body of her little child. Who should be blamed? Is it only the rapist? We've always been taught that a person who supports the wrong doer is equally wrong. By that theory, the principal, staff and other teachers should be arrested, but unfortunately no arrests have been made.
This isn't the first and last case of the type. Many school girls who haven't even attained puberty have been raped. The families bury the case as its a matter of shame for them. Many such cases don't come to light even after repeated complaints at the police station. I beg to ask that if such a case happens with a daughter or sister of a family who has 'Birla', 'Tata' attached to it, then also no arrests would be made? This time we have to give it a thought..

Ram or Rahim ..

Who are we ??
Hindu or Muslim .... When there is ‘ALI ’ in DiwALIi and ‘ RAM ’ in RAMzan  then why it took ‘us’ 60 long years to reach Ayodhya – Babri Masjid  final verdict.

The Allahabad High Court took the first step on thursday towards the resolution of the 60 year old Babri Masjid – Ram Janmabhoomi ownership dispute but there was one section of the society that remained untouched by the verdict – The Youth.

Ayodhya – Babri Masjid ?? They really don’t know and they don’t care either. Handling the pressure of studies, expectation of parents, relationships on one hand and with other things on mind, youngsters born in this era thinks that it’s time India Moves on.

Looking forward to a hidden but promising future on the other, who has got time to dig into the past in order to relive the horror of communal violence which started with the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992.

The truth is most of them do not even know what the dispute is all about or they simply don’t care. Some of them haven’t heard about the issue until the hype around the verdict or some of them think that we all are looking for a reason to fight. They (youth) are more concerned about the riots or their schedules getting affected by the verdict.

Agreed that it is pointless to fight over religion or a land in dispute ... So is it right to forget and move on for our generation ???

We ought to give it a thought ...

If all isn't well..make it well.

This isn't ready, that isn't done, mosquitoes are buzzing, monkeys are coming, dogs are jumping on athletes
blah blah blah...............
Have we wondered how negative we've turned towards 'Our' games? For the first time we have got a chance to be the hosts of commonwealth games, but as hosts we've become hostile . All we have is complaints, disappointments and unfulfilled expectations. Who are we to blame the government? Aren't we equally responsible for it? How often do we think before throwing a toffee wrapper on the road? And we just take a second to crib about the cleanliness in Delhi.
Our media is no less. It has left no stone unturned to change our minds. A little crack is shown as 'sansani'.
It seems that they are in constant rebellion with the government. There rebellion is affecting our minds. Ask any layman about Cwg and you'll hear undefendable stories.
We have this habit of criticizing a lot. We tend to raise finger on others.
Rather than criticizing them we should once just stand up and ask what can we do for our country. By insulting our country infront of foreigners is not true democracy. And we cannot just keep complaining about our govt. because WE are the one to choose them!
I would say that if the govt. is corrupt then we, people to choose them are as corrupt as them .
With only 5 days left, we cant expect Delhi to transform into something unexpected. But if we change our approach things will be different.
This is what should be done. Have a look.

Gender inequality

Consider the following sentences and tell whether they are for boys or girls.
1. don't move out of the house after dark
2. don't cry
3. you have to help your dad in business
4. you aren't going alone anywhere

I'm sure of your answers. Stereotypical people we are, aren't we? No matter how much advanced we become, still our happiness is different when a boy is born in the family. The moment he's born his destiny is decided and role is assigned.
On the contrary, girls are welcomed differently or in most cases they aren't welcomed at all. Some are killed in the womb, while others are considered as an expense.
In case of a boy there are great celebrations, family name is said to pass on.
Even if the girl does everything as that of a boy, she will still be a victim of inequality.
Intentionally or unintentionally we all have created such inequalities. No one is born inferior, its we who make them timid. Who says girls are less hardworking than boys? Its just that they are less rewarded. India has given birth to women who have created their impressions all over the world yet there is a world where they are confined to 4 walls.
Have a look.
these are some influential women of our world. They have broken the barriers of inequality.

Second childhood

“Our drooping shoulders on which our children once sat to see the world….. Our trembling hands which held our children for them to see the world ... Why can’t they be a helping hand in our so called childhood ...” said Amitabh Bachan in Baghban. What he said wasn't just a dialogue, he showed a mirror to our generation.

There are other problems old people faces, but none can be as bad as the indifference and neglect of the young. The young have no time for the old even though the old have virtually no time left. The old, who were once young; helped to make the present society, and now they pay the price - they themselves are neglected and unappreciated in turn. An old person does not have the physical ability of a young person. Walking can be an effort, crossing a road can be impossible without assistance. Modern society is built by the young for the young. It is a dynamic creation that does not give much consideration to the old, sick, handicapped or incapable. They are merely tolerated as so much liability or nuisance.

Life seems to be meaningless. Isn't it? An individual slogs all through his/her life for the family and with a view that a day would come when he/she can just relax in his/her armchair and read his/her favourite book and tell tales of his/her youthful days to the younger generation. He/She will term those days as "And they lived happily ever after" they forget that the day of his/her rest is someone else's busy day and the loved one won't even owe a second for him/her.

If you respect the one who has moulded you into a fine being, then just hold their hand. They don't need your money or luxury; they just need a shoulder to lean. Help them lead the last few days of their life that doesn't trigger loneliness. Time can be mean but we don't have to be. Its a duty which we have to perform happily. Love your grandparents if you wish to be loved by your grandchildren.

Who's ill?

Imagine a day when you have to stay in a dark room, locked from outside, no access to anything, getting a loaf of bread and water,no separate toilet to urinate.Gives you creeps, isn't it?
Now imagine about how would Sahista, a 27 year old girl be feeling after being locked in a 3X6 feet room not for one day but 3 years.
http://news.in.msn.com/crimefile/article.aspx?cp-documentid=4397967
For all these years, she had no one to hear her plight. The worst part adding to her miseries was that she was locked by her own mother who said that her daughter was mentally ill.
Is this the treatment for a mentally ill child in our country? I feel the opposite. It wasn't the daughter who was ill, probably it was the mother, who did such a brutal act.
What is the fault of these children? That is how they are created and that is how they are to be accepted. Why do we have to think twice before accepting them as normal beings?
Without thinking much we'll blame the government. But then how do we behave on seeing any mental patient? Do we go and talk to them?
In my opinion they deserve to sit with us and handled with care and love. We all are the creation of same god, isn't it..
We must be patient and humanitarian. I'm sure each one of us have met such people. Lets try and know them better. If we still hesitate I think its not them who need help..We ought to give it a thought.

Unending poverty

Everyone is aware of the mounting poverty in India. No matter how many schemes our government launches, we'll find women carrying naked babies for money. Makes me wonder why do we call it Rising and shining India. We live in a country of haves and haves not. Some are filthy rich while others are dying of hunger. What should be done? Some will say government is trying their best, others will say the saga will continue.  But if we look at it the other way, is only the government to be blamed? I'm sure they must have done a lot of things for these poor people. Still new surveys come up, claiming that India can't end poverty by 2015. See the link below
  http://www.indianexpress.com/news/india-cant-end-poverty-by-2015-as-per-new/582784/
In today's newspaper I read about a mother who had to sell her child for mere Rs. 400. I remember how last weekend I gifted a Rs. 2000 worth perfume to a pal. Now I'm wondering how strange it is. She kept this baby for 9 months in her womb and in utter poverty she had to sell it. See the link below.
http://epaper.hindustantimes.com/PUBLICATIONS/HT/HD/2010/09/20/ArticleHtmls/Poverty-stricken-mother-sells-baby-boy-for-R400-20092010010060.shtml?Mode=1
Again the same question..who's responsible? We being citizens of this country too have some share of responsibilities. How many times have we taught our maids and servants to read and write? "What's the need?" that's what we feel. But if we see with our minds open, there is an urgent need.

Obsessed mom..

I read this bizarre news about a mother who got so obsessed with gaming that she neglected her children and let her dogs starve to death. This 33 yr old British woman played non-stop games on the internet for months while her children were filling their tummies with cold food.
Her house turned into filth as the bodies of two dogs were left rotting. She has been sentenced to six months imprisonment and she has accepted the charges of child cruelty and animal neglect.
It is said that she was devastated after her husband's death and she probably lost her mental balance.
"She started playing initially for an hour but since it became an obsession she only slept for 2 hours at night" said the Prosecutor Deepak Kapur.
I hope this lady finds solace somewhere.

Future in dark.

The most innocent phase in human life is the childhood. It is that stage of life when the human foundations are laid for a successful adult life. It is the phase when we are carefree, fun-loving, learning, playing…

Go back into your childhood and for most of us, there are beautiful memories. But, this is the story of not too many children.
Yes, there are far more children scarred and tormented. They hate their childhood. They would do anything to get out of being controlled and tortured by others. They want to break-free from this world. Some manage to get out and get a better life, but many continue to be where they are, not out of choice, but force.

There are industries and individuals, who employee young innocent children. They put them to work under gruelling circumstances. They make them work in dangerous factory units manufacturing fireworks. They make children carry load even heavier than their own body weight.
The main reason is poverty. Families need additional sources of income and unfortunately their poverty-stricken way of life makes them so ruthless that they sell their children as commodities to exploitive employers. Most such employers pay a lump sum for the child and then keep him or her.

Child labour is a significant problem in India and this is the true story....

Teenage pregnancy : Nipping in the bud

Not being cautious and landing up at the gynaecologist  is a recurrent situation in a teenager's life. All of us might have heard numerous cases of girls getting pregnant in their teens. Most of them silently go for an abortion and yet some of them commit suicide.
I wonder what is wrong? Being pregnant in teenage or not using protection??
This question leaves you thinking..
what is the cause of teenage pregnancy? peer pressure, 'uncool' parents or lack of knowledge?
Students feel that it is cool to have sex during the teens. Friends often tease a boy if he's not capable to befriending a girl and then taking her to bed. So is it a "collar up issue"?
"More and more teenagers are indulging in unprotected sex these days as they know that it is not all that difficult to get away with it. There are a number of options for abortion of which pills are the most common and you don’t need to have a doctor’s prescription to get them. Moreover, most teenage boys have a number of whims about using condoms or feel shy about getting them from a store" says a teen.
Though we've grown in many ways still many issues need to come to limelight. A research shows that girls who are exposed to child abuse, assault, broken homes are at a higher risk of teenage pregnancies. The worst part is that due to lack of knowledge Girls don' even realise they're pregnant until the 5th month.
We must not give a blind eye to it as its about their future. Parents should be open about it, children should talk to their parents rather than their friends or any sites.. We ought to give it a thought.

The Lost Essence ....

Pushpa was 11 years old when she woke up one morning and found out that she was going to a wedding that day: hers.
Her parents and relatives had arranged for her to marry her first cousin, an aunt’s son. He was 25.
Throughout the world, marriage is regarded as a moment of celebration and a milestone in an adult’s life. Sadly, the practice of early marriage gives no such cause for celebration.
Poor health, early death and lack of educational opportunities are some of the problems attributed to child marriage. We call children as a future of our nation yet we are responsible for ruining their lives. Child marriage is a gross injustice to children as it proves devastating for them. For instance, a girl who marry young, consequently gives birth young and therefore have an increased risk for complications or even death in child birth.
Though child marriage has been banned long ago it is not stopped and is still prevalent. There’s an instant need for a self introspection call, to stop this evil from spreading.

I love you till I find someone better!

"Darling, I would be late today,I  have a lot of office work to do please don't
cook for me", said Andrew to his wife whom he married 'happily' years ago...
After 1 hour he was sitting in a pub(his office) with with one hand around a
girls waist(his most frequented client) and in another hand was a glass of
Carlsberg beer(his file).!

Infidelity is one of the greatest threats to a happy
relationship. But why does a partner gets into it? Some get into infidelity because their emotional needs are not met, some get into it just for excitement. They see it as fun. For many men it is a 'collar up
issue' which satisfies their ego.

The most famous case of infidelity is of Tiger Woods who didn't think a
moment before deceiving 15 girls and most important his wife Elin Nordegren.

One of his text message to Devon James, a porn star said"I want you to be my whore".
India too is witnessing numerous cases of infidelity.Though wrapped under
values and culture these options are silently trickling in.We are letting go off are deep
rooted values and aping the western culture.

A 23 year old lad living in Mumbai says that he is very uncomfortable sticking
to a single women.
A middle aged woman in Pune who is enjoying a marital life for the past 20
years finds it very boring to have sex with her husband. She doesn't mind
experimenting with other guys irrespective of her age.

Such stories will continue to exist and such cases will continue to shock us but it is the worst thing that can be done to a relationship.

Be honest and satisfied and don't forget 'what goes around comes around'.

Who says its a male dominated society!

I giggled at the thought of this hilarious term 'groom abduction'. It happens in Bihar where eligible and potential grooms are forced into wedlock. How do we crib about living in a male dominated society I wonder! 1300 cases of groom kidnapping have been registered in Bihar.
Based on this, a film (Antardwand) is being released on August 27. It is about an abducted groom who was forcibly married to someone he didn't intend to. It is surprising that groom abduction is given a green light among upper castes in northern states where potential bridegrooms are targetted by the girl's family to save dowry.
funny :)

ME

I teach. I like to teach. It gives me immense pleasure to teach children and make difficult things easy for them. I dont teach for money, I teach because I feel I can easily feel a child's pulse which many teachers have forgotten. Today i had a chat with a friend after a long time. When I told him that I want to change the teaching pattern in our schools he simply mocked at me. He easily tantalised me. I did not give up. For me he was like another naive student.
Ever since I was in 6th, I began to hate studies. Books were a turn off I thought. History period was the one with maximum yawns. Maths was alien. I grew and grew hating it all. This same saga is continuing for almost all students today who dont like history or maths.  But today I teach it. I dont want these children to grow old without enjoying education. I didnt have good teachers who could make books interesting to me but I feel I can do it for them. Education is of no use until it invites you. A book is useless if it is compelled to read. Why have our schools forgotten that? Why is it that we talk about an unending rat race all the time? Why cant I change this pattern?
It reminds me of 3 idiots. The movie was appreciated by all. But what lesson did we get from it? I said that we must do what interests us. Do these schools follow it? A teacher enters a class, speaks for 30 mins and leaves followed by the next teacher and then the next.... how often does she say that " today we wont open our books" or " today we'll do fun learning" ? The children and to some extent teachers have accepted the fact that learning cant be fun.. its a stressful job.
I hope I can change this existing pattern.  Its a dream to open my own school where children come smiling and leave home smiling. where they are not dependent on any tutions for their projects or homeworks and most of all, where learning is fun..

Why not legalize it...

Ever since the Chinese declared 'to get rich is to be glorious', women without brain power or money have been using the only asset available to them for quick money. Generally their day begins a little later than others. Unlike others they don't have to get up early for work, nor they have to search for customers. For obvious reasons they don't come out in broad daylight. There are no fixed working hours and no off's..Doesnt it seem too easy??
That is what they thought when they were told to enter prostitution.
Moly, a 22 yr old girl can't remember from when she has been in a brothel . When asked, she said "I was brought here by one uncle. He promised me a job. But now I'm a brand prostitute".
Thousands of girls work with Moly who don't want to return to their homes now. They have accepted 'kothas' as their houses..
We all know that prostitution in India isnt legalised. But everybody knows about the famous G.b road in Delhi, Sonagachi in Kolkata and Kamathipura in Mumbai.
We all know that even respectable people of our society visit these brothels after dusk. Then why isnt it legal? Legalisation would help in decreasing rape cases, social acceptance of prostitutes in our society, underage prostitution would be curtailed.
what do you think?

Shameful killing.

Recently we celebrated our 63rd independence.. we call ourselves Free, Independent people..
Sheer lie.. I agree that we are not ruled by any external power but aren't we governed by our morals?
I'm not saying that it is wrong to follow our morals and ethics, but is it justified to kill someone in the name of morality? We easily call it Honour killing. What is so honourable about it?
Some weak-minded people of the society choose to be gods and take someone's life to protect their family's name. After committing such cold bloodied acts they end up in jail. Does that bring honour to the family?
Our religion does not honour these killings yet its happening all the time. What was the crime done by  innocent victims? They decided to choose their own partners believing to be a part of a "free nation".
But they were mercilessly slaughtered..

How can such a killing be honoured if it brings shame to the family??

Think... Its now or never ..

It disturbs me to think what could be the reason for a father raping his own daughter. The very child whom he raised all his life. The same hands which once taught a little girl to walk were later used to rape the daughter. How often do we think about WHY it happens in a "Rich cultured country" like India?
I remember reading a news last year which horrified me wherein a father was arrested for raping his 2 daughters on the advice of a 'tantrik' in an attempt to become rich. Shockingly enough is the fact that the mother was also a part of the crime. It urges me to think how can a father satisfy Godess Lakshmi by raping the very own Lakshmi of his own house..For name's sake we live in a country full of traditions. I wish to ask where are the traditions going?

This is Sanchi kathuria, urging every reader of this blog to think about such horrendous cases taking place might be at the next door. It's not only rape and molestation I'm talking about, its about every such case about which we don't talk, pretending to be in 'curtains of decency'..
Let your heart out, share your views, leave comments..
And remember its not just a blog. Its something happening around us all the time or maybe with us..
THINK...
