If all isn't well..make it well.

This isn't ready, that isn't done, mosquitoes are buzzing, monkeys are coming, dogs are jumping on athletes
blah blah blah...............
Have we wondered how negative we've turned towards 'Our' games? For the first time we have got a chance to be the hosts of commonwealth games, but as hosts we've become hostile . All we have is complaints, disappointments and unfulfilled expectations. Who are we to blame the government? Aren't we equally responsible for it? How often do we think before throwing a toffee wrapper on the road? And we just take a second to crib about the cleanliness in Delhi.
Our media is no less. It has left no stone unturned to change our minds. A little crack is shown as 'sansani'.
It seems that they are in constant rebellion with the government. There rebellion is affecting our minds. Ask any layman about Cwg and you'll hear undefendable stories.
We have this habit of criticizing a lot. We tend to raise finger on others.
Rather than criticizing them we should once just stand up and ask what can we do for our country. By insulting our country infront of foreigners is not true democracy. And we cannot just keep complaining about our govt. because WE are the one to choose them!
I would say that if the govt. is corrupt then we, people to choose them are as corrupt as them .
With only 5 days left, we cant expect Delhi to transform into something unexpected. But if we change our approach things will be different.
This is what should be done. Have a look.

Gender inequality

Consider the following sentences and tell whether they are for boys or girls.
1. don't move out of the house after dark
2. don't cry
3. you have to help your dad in business
4. you aren't going alone anywhere

I'm sure of your answers. Stereotypical people we are, aren't we? No matter how much advanced we become, still our happiness is different when a boy is born in the family. The moment he's born his destiny is decided and role is assigned.
On the contrary, girls are welcomed differently or in most cases they aren't welcomed at all. Some are killed in the womb, while others are considered as an expense.
In case of a boy there are great celebrations, family name is said to pass on.
Even if the girl does everything as that of a boy, she will still be a victim of inequality.
Intentionally or unintentionally we all have created such inequalities. No one is born inferior, its we who make them timid. Who says girls are less hardworking than boys? Its just that they are less rewarded. India has given birth to women who have created their impressions all over the world yet there is a world where they are confined to 4 walls.
Have a look.

Second childhood

“Our drooping shoulders on which our children once sat to see the world….. Our trembling hands which held our children for them to see the world ... Why can’t they be a helping hand in our so called childhood ...” said Amitabh Bachan in Baghban. What he said wasn't just a dialogue, he showed a mirror to our generation.

There are other problems old people faces, but none can be as bad as the indifference and neglect of the young. The young have no time for the old even though the old have virtually no time left. The old, who were once young; helped to make the present society, and now they pay the price - they themselves are neglected and unappreciated in turn. An old person does not have the physical ability of a young person. Walking can be an effort, crossing a road can be impossible without assistance. Modern society is built by the young for the young. It is a dynamic creation that does not give much consideration to the old, sick, handicapped or incapable. They are merely tolerated as so much liability or nuisance.

Life seems to be meaningless. Isn't it? An individual slogs all through his/her life for the family and with a view that a day would come when he/she can just relax in his/her armchair and read his/her favourite book and tell tales of his/her youthful days to the younger generation. He/She will term those days as "And they lived happily ever after" they forget that the day of his/her rest is someone else's busy day and the loved one won't even owe a second for him/her.

If you respect the one who has moulded you into a fine being, then just hold their hand. They don't need your money or luxury; they just need a shoulder to lean. Help them lead the last few days of their life that doesn't trigger loneliness. Time can be mean but we don't have to be. Its a duty which we have to perform happily. Love your grandparents if you wish to be loved by your grandchildren.

Who's ill?

Imagine a day when you have to stay in a dark room, locked from outside, no access to anything, getting a loaf of bread and water,no separate toilet to urinate.Gives you creeps, isn't it?
Now imagine about how would Sahista, a 27 year old girl be feeling after being locked in a 3X6 feet room not for one day but 3 years.
http://news.in.msn.com/crimefile/article.aspx?cp-documentid=4397967
For all these years, she had no one to hear her plight. The worst part adding to her miseries was that she was locked by her own mother who said that her daughter was mentally ill.
Is this the treatment for a mentally ill child in our country? I feel the opposite. It wasn't the daughter who was ill, probably it was the mother, who did such a brutal act.
What is the fault of these children? That is how they are created and that is how they are to be accepted. Why do we have to think twice before accepting them as normal beings?
Without thinking much we'll blame the government. But then how do we behave on seeing any mental patient? Do we go and talk to them?
In my opinion they deserve to sit with us and handled with care and love. We all are the creation of same god, isn't it..
We must be patient and humanitarian. I'm sure each one of us have met such people. Lets try and know them better. If we still hesitate I think its not them who need help..We ought to give it a thought.

Unending poverty

Everyone is aware of the mounting poverty in India. No matter how many schemes our government launches, we'll find women carrying naked babies for money. Makes me wonder why do we call it Rising and shining India. We live in a country of haves and haves not. Some are filthy rich while others are dying of hunger. What should be done? Some will say government is trying their best, others will say the saga will continue.  But if we look at it the other way, is only the government to be blamed? I'm sure they must have done a lot of things for these poor people. Still new surveys come up, claiming that India can't end poverty by 2015. See the link below
  http://www.indianexpress.com/news/india-cant-end-poverty-by-2015-as-per-new/582784/
In today's newspaper I read about a mother who had to sell her child for mere Rs. 400. I remember how last weekend I gifted a Rs. 2000 worth perfume to a pal. Now I'm wondering how strange it is. She kept this baby for 9 months in her womb and in utter poverty she had to sell it. See the link below.

Again the same question..who's responsible? We being citizens of this country too have some share of responsibilities. How many times have we taught our maids and servants to read and write? "What's the need?" that's what we feel. But if we see with our minds open, there is an urgent need.

Obsessed mom..

I read this bizarre news about a mother who got so obsessed with gaming that she neglected her children and let her dogs starve to death. This 33 yr old British woman played non-stop games on the internet for months while her children were filling their tummies with cold food.
Her house turned into filth as the bodies of two dogs were left rotting. She has been sentenced to six months imprisonment and she has accepted the charges of child cruelty and animal neglect.
It is said that she was devastated after her husband's death and she probably lost her mental balance.
"She started playing initially for an hour but since it became an obsession she only slept for 2 hours at night" said the Prosecutor Deepak Kapur.
I hope this lady finds solace somewhere.

Future in dark.

The most innocent phase in human life is the childhood. It is that stage of life when the human foundations are laid for a successful adult life. It is the phase when we are carefree, fun-loving, learning, playing…

Go back into your childhood and for most of us, there are beautiful memories. But, this is the story of not too many children.
Yes, there are far more children scarred and tormented. They hate their childhood. They would do anything to get out of being controlled and tortured by others. They want to break-free from this world. Some manage to get out and get a better life, but many continue to be where they are, not out of choice, but force.

There are industries and individuals, who employee young innocent children. They put them to work under gruelling circumstances. They make them work in dangerous factory units manufacturing fireworks. They make children carry load even heavier than their own body weight.
The main reason is poverty. Families need additional sources of income and unfortunately their poverty-stricken way of life makes them so ruthless that they sell their children as commodities to exploitive employers. Most such employers pay a lump sum for the child and then keep him or her.

Child labour is a significant problem in India and this is the true story....

Teenage pregnancy : Nipping in the bud

Not being cautious and landing up at the gynaecologist  is a recurrent situation in a teenager's life. All of us might have heard numerous cases of girls getting pregnant in their teens. Most of them silently go for an abortion and yet some of them commit suicide.
I wonder what is wrong? Being pregnant in teenage or not using protection??
This question leaves you thinking..
what is the cause of teenage pregnancy? peer pressure, 'uncool' parents or lack of knowledge?
Students feel that it is cool to have sex during the teens. Friends often tease a boy if he's not capable to befriending a girl and then taking her to bed. So is it a "collar up issue"?
"More and more teenagers are indulging in unprotected sex these days as they know that it is not all that difficult to get away with it. There are a number of options for abortion of which pills are the most common and you don’t need to have a doctor’s prescription to get them. Moreover, most teenage boys have a number of whims about using condoms or feel shy about getting them from a store" says a teen.
Though we've grown in many ways still many issues need to come to limelight. A research shows that girls who are exposed to child abuse, assault, broken homes are at a higher risk of teenage pregnancies. The worst part is that due to lack of knowledge Girls don' even realise they're pregnant until the 5th month.
We must not give a blind eye to it as its about their future. Parents should be open about it, children should talk to their parents rather than their friends or any sites.. We ought to give it a thought.
